Our Earth and the Environment

"This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth.
All things are connected like the blood that unites us all.
Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it.
Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."
–Chief Seattle (1786–1866)

"It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment." ~Ansel Adams

"There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet." ~Brooke Medicine Eagle

"I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?" ~Robert Redford, Yosemite National Park Dedication, 1985

"For the first time in the history of the world, every human being is now subjected to contact with dangerous chemicals, from the moment of conception until death." ~Rachel Carson, Silent Spring, 1962

"Nature is an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if only we will tune in." ~George Washington Carver (1864–1943)

"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin." ~Shakespeare

Holidays are an interesting phenomena to me. They are like token events. They are reminders that we do not celebrate something every day and that there are designated days of observance, as if they are not important enough to celebrate every moment. Is it not Thanks Giving everyday? Should we not celebrate Christ Consciousness every Moment? Should we not celebrate our birth and our death with every blink of the eye? Should we not love and respect the Earth with each breath we take. Every day is a holiday. Everyday is a Holy-day. If only the world could see or feel this. wow Linda, what a stunning and thought - full tribute to the earth.
