Victimhood

Dr. James Martin Peebles, spirit guide, on Victimhood, from the book Three Principles of Angelic Wisdom by Linda Pendleton:

"By understanding that you are, indeed, the creator of your life, it returns power, respect and love–beginning with self.  The illusion of separation then becomes smaller and self becomes larger.  Self-doubt leaves, and self-worth returns.  You no longer feel helpless or hopeless as self-empowerment returns.

But the paradox.  By claiming your power you also have to claim self-responsibility for your life and, in doing so, you claim responsibility for your every action, thought and deed.

That is a big one–thought.  Your every thought has a reaction.  But you say, No one knows my thoughts except me!  Wrong.  Thoughts are real.  Once they are put into form within your mind, they are an energy, and energy moves and energy does.  They are a force, a reality, and become a part of the universe.  Of course, your actions and deeds have not only an impact on others but on self.  And often, more on self, than others.

Using Our Powerful Internal Communication Network

Using Our Powerful Internal Communication Network
By
Linda Pendleton

“The soul of man is immortal and imperishable.”
~Plato (c. 428–348 B.C.)

Our body knows things that our minds often do not.  One of the simplest techniques for private problem solving is to simply and firmly state the nature of a problem and request a solution while in a meditative state.  To engage in an inner dialogue will often reveal the answers we seek.
Body, mind, and spirit all work in tandem–each aware of the others, and each with an intelligence of its own, but interconnected like the fibers of a powerful communication network.  Every human being expresses a trinity of wisdom.  For far too long, many have tended to see different aspects of themselves as separate entities without representation among the other aspects.  This idea has been breed into us as the combined forces of science, medicine, and religion have encouraged us to see the separate pieces instead of a corporate whole.
It had become convenient to think of this trinity as three separate entities but recent studies are describing a unity where body, mind and spirit (or soul) are all present in the organizational field of the physical body itself.
It is unfortunate that it is still uncomfortable for some to include spirit or soul as an essential element of the human organism because soul itself undoubtedly has much to say about how the trinity of the body manifests itself in full awareness.
In fact, it could be suggested that soul is the preeminent cause of all effects and is therefore that which produces the trinity, itself indissolubly woven into and superior to body and mind.
Psychiatrist Brian Weiss, for many years now has engaged in past life regressions for the benefit of his patients.  He discovered in working with his patients under hypnosis that some of them have recalled past lives.  Often the events of a past life have carried forward into this lifetime, resulting in physical or psychological disorders.  Dr. Weiss has documented several of these cases in his books, beginning with his first, Many Lives, Many Masters. Dr. Weiss continues to lecture, hold workshops and write books.
If it is true that recall of past life experiences can have a profound effect upon the psychology and even the physiology of a living being, then we must consider the importance of the soul, which is ever present and ever participating in those life experiences.  The soul brings with it memories that may far predate the incarnation into this life dimension.  It now appears that not only memories, but the physical constituents of matter itself are somehow retained as a living presence within the soul even before the birth of the body which is to clothe it.  The body-mind-soul connection should therefore be seen as both a physiological and psychological presence which accounts for the day by day expression of reality encountered in the human sphere.
British Biochemist Rupert Sheldrake, in discussing his morphogenetic fields, regards those fields as living universal influences that exist independent of physical matter, but nevertheless continually effect all processes of nature with their world-transcendent properties.  He sees the laws of nature as not actual laws per se, but rather the habits of nature.
There is a strong resonance with similar ideas expressed decades earlier by Gustof Strömberg in his book, Soul of the Universe.  Strömberg, an American of Swedish birth, was an astronomer and astrophysicist associated with the Carnegie Institution's Mount Wilson Observatory.  His stunning thesis is a prime example of genius unacknowledged in the context of its time.  Perhaps it took an Albert Einstein to recognize it.  Einstein's cover blurb for the jacket of Strömberg’s book reads, “Very few men could of their own knowledge present the material as clearly and concisely as he has succeeded in doing.”  In his native Sweden, Strömberg was highly respected and the flags throughout Sweden were flown at half-mast in observance of his death in 1962.  Here is a brief sample of Strömberg's vision:
“Matter and life and consciousness have their roots in a world beyond space and time.  They emerge into the physical world at certain well defined points or sources from which they expand in the form of guiding fields with space and time properties.  Some of the sources can be identified with material particles, and others with the living elements responsible for organization and purposeful activity.  Some of them exist in our brain as neurones, and some of them have a very intimate and special association with their ultimate origin.  They are the roots of our consciousness and the sources of all our knowledge.”
Earlier in his writings, Strömberg had observed, “All our mental characteristics and faculties have their origin in the non-physical world.  There lies the origin of our sensations of light and colors, and of sound and music.  There is the origin of our feelings and emotions, and of our will and our thoughts.  There is the source of our feelings of satisfaction and bliss, and of guilt and remorse.  Our nerve cells seem to be the links which connect our physical brain with the world in which our consciousness is rooted.  At death our brain field, which during our life determined the structure and functions of our brain and nervous system, is not destroyed.  Like other living fields it contracts and disappears at death, apparently falling back to the level of its origin.  All our memories are indelibly engraved in this field, and after our death, when our mind is no longer blocked by inert matter, we can probably recall them all, even those of which we were never consciously aware during our organic life.”
It is interesting to see how both the scientific and philosophical points of view today seem to be moving toward complimentary conclusions about the universe and man's place in it with much more coherence than ever noted before.  Many brilliant thinkers, poets, philosophers, medical doctors, physicists, and scholars are all bringing forward a sharper focus on the nature of reality.  Side by side with science, we have had this quieter explosion of spiritual investigation and discovery.
It seems certain that popular physics will soon discover and celebrate the universal essence of all life everywhere and introduce a more realistic view of the human reality.
To know thyself, in all the self's intrinsic majesty, is to know the whole.  The fragmentary self is the weak self.  Let us all make an effort to not fragmentize ourselves, for the fragments may never contain the full expression of who we are.

UFO Odyssey, Off-Earth Beings to the Rescue?

Are we alone in the universe? Most people believe that we are not. Nearly 80 percent of Americans believe the government is not telling us all they know about UFO activity.

Could the Earth’s much needed healing be part of another planet’s mission? Are off-earth beings here to help, or to hinder the human race? Can we unlock the long held secrets and mysteries about extraterrestrial life? Research and polls indicate that at least one in seven persons have had a UFO experience of some kind. Abductions, sightings, crop circles—messages from beyond? And why are we being denied disclosure?

What has science, technology, professional investigations, and history, revealed?

150 Years of Spiritualism

“The veil that clouds your eyes shall be lifted by the hands that wove it.”  ~ Kahlil Gibran

In many ways, it appears that not much has changed in over two hundred years.  Many of us are still searching for answers about life:  Who are we? Why are we here?  What happens when we leave here?  Will we see our loved ones again?  And for some, the questions may be broader such as:  Have I been here before?  Will I return at some future point?  Why did I come back?

In about 1850, Spiritualism reached a high interest and continued for a number of years, not only in America, but world-wide. The poets, philosophers, artists, politicians of the time, along with the ordinary man and woman, in surprising numbers came to accept spirit communication as a comforting and fulfilling life experience.

Within Linda Pendleton's book, you will read about the early days of Spiritualism, and how it became a new era that brought with it a profound understanding of human destiny after death, and of the relationship between heaven and earth.

Many historical figures considered themselves Spiritualist, some more openly than others. One of our greatest Presidents, Abraham Lincoln communicated with spirit on the Other Side through mediums and referred to spirit as “our friends from the upper country.” It has often been said his writings and speeches were inspired by spirit, especially his Emancipation Proclamation.

Letting Go of Victimhood

Excerpt from Linda Pendleton's Three Principles of Angelic Wisdom.

"If we awaken each new day with enthusiasm and joy instead of with an apprehension that the world will attack us today, will not our inner world be more peaceful and harmonious?  Do we fear our world and consider it to be filled with uncertainty or do we embrace it with excitement and consider it to be filled with delicious mysteries?  Do we feel that happiness is not ours, or do we acknowledge that happiness is a state of mind?  Our mind.

"Are we prepared to disavow victimhood and acknowledge that we are empowered to create our world to our choosing?  Reality is our creation and when we are able to acknowledge and accept that to its fullest, not only do we become free, but it enables us to be the best we can be."

The Fabric of Eternity

"The perfect circle moves in finite space, around and around in the same place.  When you transform your circle into a spiral, you touch the fabric of eternity.  It is the spiral which spins, gathering all it needs on its journey, never-ending.  It is the DNA of life, it is love, never-ending, it is God-consciousness, the gossamer-threads which make up the cosmic All.  It is the trinity of consciousness, soul and God, all as One."  -Dr. Peebles, "Three Principles of Angelic Wisdom"  by Linda Pendleton

What Is An Angel?

What Is An Angel?
by Linda Pendleton

What is an angel, you ask?
They are messengers of love.
They are friends and companions.
They are teachers and guides.
They are the same as you.
They, just like you, are beings of Light.
They represent the Love of God,
Just as you do.
That is their place and that is your place.
They are here to help you understand
They are a part of God, just as you are.
Angels are here to help you understand your
journey Home.
They are here to help you understand who you are.
They are here to help you become the best you can be.
Angels help you understand that Love is All.
They will hold your hand in troubled times.
They will lead you toward peace.
They are with you, to bring comfort whenever needed.

Spirit Contact

Dr. J. M. Peebles, during his terrestrial life

More than twenty years ago, spirit guide, Dr. James Martin Peebles had spoken to us about the coming increase in contact with the spirit world.  He had told us that more and more people would be having experiences which would validate the existence of spirit.  He said that communication with the other side would become a normal, acceptable way of every day life and that the illusion of separation would become thinner–in other words, the veil between worlds would become more transparent.
I see that happening.  I have spoken to many people who have had mystical experiences.  One cannot help but notice the upsurge in the hunger for spiritual material which is being filled by the publication of many books on spiritual subjects, everything from angels, miracles, near-death experiences, the body/mind/soul connection, and extraterrestrials, and which also has found its way onto the television and movies screens with great success.
Intercommunication between the two worlds, our earthly world and the world of spirit, is taking place.

Crop Circles and Objects in the Sky

"I’ve always believed the Crop Circles have been messages to us, almost a symbolic notification that we are not alone, and I feel the reason for the messages has to do with our treatment of Planet Earth and the environmental and nuclear threats that we pose for the universe.

"Are we alone?  I think not.  It has been an innate human nature, since the beginning of time to look beyond and above for answers to universal questions:  What is this all about?  Why are we here?  What is beyond?  Maybe at some time in the not too distant future all of us will know the answers about life beyond this planet, and our connection to it.

"We may think of ourselves as the “new kids on the block” but within the vastness of the cosmos could be far older civilizations active for millennia, greatly predating the human experience on Earth.  And if we look at our own advances in technology in the last few decades, it only makes since that “others” could be far beyond us in understanding how all of this works.

Dr. David Viscott on Letting Go, Letting Grow.

Roots of Life

"If we are the sum of everything that happens to us, to limit a person's experience is to limit their growth.  Indeed, to take on the burden of sentry, guarding another person's borders, is to interfere with that person's life lesson.  You cannot protect anyone from themselves; you cannot protect anyone from life.  You cannot spare a loved one the confrontation with their own mortality, their own stupidity or their own emptiness." ~Dr. David Viscott, Psychiatrist, Best-selling Author (1938-1996)

This quote by the renowned late psychiatrist, Dr. Viscott is very applicable to our lives, as parents of adult children, as siblings, as children of aging parents, as spouses and partners.  So often we may have a tendency to bring out our co-dependent traits to rescue, control, or interfere in the life of another.  But pulling back from a situation that we feel "needs" our help, can also bring up feelings of guilt that we're not doing enough to help, direct, or even control, the life of the other person.  It's about learning to let go, to allow, to let one walk their own path.

I'm also reminded of the spirit teachings of Dr. James M. Peebles, in which one of his Three Spiritual Principles is:  "Loving allowance for all things to be in their own time and place, beginning with yourself."

In my book, Three Principles of Angelic Wisdom, in discussing with Dr. Peebles, his Loving Allowance Principle, he stated:  "When you can allow all of life to be, in its own time and place, and allow for yourself the same, it will be easy.  That is the challenge for each of you, to come to that place of ease, to allow love for yourself, to let of go of all expectation of another, and of yourself, to give to another–all others–the allowance to be who they are, where they are, to allow them to walk their own path, while you are allowed to walk your own."

To read more of Dr. Peebles' spiritual psychology visit my website page.

Thanks to my friend, Chelle at Inspiration Line for again bringing this quote to my attention.  Dr. Viscott was an amazing doctor and inspirational healer.  His books are well-worth finding.

Pope Francis and Guardian Angels

“Angels are spirits, but it is not because they are spirits that they are angels.
They become Angels when they are sent.
For the name Angel refers to their office, not their nature.
You ask the name of this nature, it is spirit;
it is that of an Angel, which is a messenger.”
~Saint Augustine (354-430)

Pope Francis continues to amaze me  He's so refreshing.  At the Feast of the Guardian Angels Catholic celebration on October 2, he made the statement that guardian angels exist and people who listen to their advice are less likely to make the wrong decisions.

During mass in the small residence chapel at the Vatican, he said, “The doctrine on angels is not fantasist. No, it’s reality. According to church tradition we all have an angel with us, who protects us and helps us understand things."

Pope Francis asked: “How often have we heard ‘I should do this, I should not do this, that’s not right, be careful ...’. So often! It is the voice of our travelling companion.”

The Pope advised skeptics to ask themselves: “How is my relationship with my guardian angel? Do I listen to him? Do I say good morning to him? Do I ask him to watch over me when I sleep? No one journeys alone and no one should think that they are alone,” he said.

His message that humans are helped along in life by an otherworldly guardian angels is in contrast to former Pope Benedict’s comments that angels did not sing at the birth of Christ.

I'm reminded of what I've written before about my growing up as a non-Catholic and feeling left out because all my Catholic friends had their guardian angels. Of course, I was to later become aware that I always had my own guardian angels and spirit guides around me, and still do.  And yes, I do communicate with them, and listen to them.

"Peg Leg" Bates Did Not Let An Amputation, Or The Color of His Skin, Stop Him From Having A Successful Dance Career!

"Life means, do the best you can with what you've got, with all your mind and heart. You can do anything in this world if you want to do it bad enough," ~Clayton "Peg Leg" Bates, (1907-1998)

I was reminded today of a tap dancer I used to love to watch dance when he appeared on television.  I don't recall the first time I ever saw him dance, but it may have been in the 1950s as I recall discussing him with my father.  I was always fascinated by his wooden peg leg and his ability to maneuver and tap dance so well.

He first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1955 and made numerous appearances on the show.

Here is a video of Clayton "Peg Leg" Bates, dancing, and a video of a Dedication of a Statue to honor him in Greenville, South Carolina, the place he moved to when he was 12 years of age, and the place where he began his successful dance career, despite his disability, and despite the color of his skin.

Quoted from Constance Vallis Hill, http://www.atdf.org/awards/pegleg.html

"Bates worked his way upward from minstrel shows and carnivals to the vaudeville circuits. At fifteen, after having become the undisputed king of one-legged dancers, able to execute acrobatic, graceful soft shoe, and powerful rhythm-tapping all with one leg and a peg, he established a professional career as a tap dancer. In 1930, after dancing in the Paris version of Lew Leslie's Blackbirds of 1929, Bates returned to New York to perform as a featured tap dancer at such famous Harlem nightclubs as the Cotton Club, Connie's Inn, and the Club Zanzibar. On Broadway in the 1930s, he reinvented such popular tap steps as the Shim Sham Shimmy, Susie-Q, and Truckin' by enhancing them with the rhythmic combination of his deep-toned left-leg peg and the high-pitched metallic right-foot tap. As one of the black tap dancers able to cross the color barrier, Bates joined performers on the white vaudeville circuit of Keith & Lowe and performed on the same bill as Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly. In 1949 Bates sang and danced the role of the swashbuckling pirate, Long John Silver in the musical review Blackouts. "Don't give up the ship, although you seem to lose the fight; life means do the best with all you got, give it all your might," he sang in the Ken Murray musical that played for three years at the Hollywood and Vine Theatre in Hollywood."

I had a below-the-knee amputation nearly seven years ago, and although I have an excellent prosthetic and a expense carbon fiber prosthetic foot with ankle movement,  I don't think I could tap dance, even with taps on my shoes!!

Children and Past Lives

Jim B. Tucker, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is continuing the work of the late Ian Stevenson at the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies with children who report memories of previous lives. Dr. Tucker's first book on the research, Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives, has been translated into ten languages. His most recent book, Return to Life: Extraordinary Cases of Children Who Remember Past Lives, tells the stories of recent American cases.

The Edgar Cayce Foundation (ARE) has a blog by Dr. Tucker, titled, Advice for Parents of Children who Report Memories of Past Lives.

Dreams: Their Meanings, Their Symbols

“Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions.”
~ Edgar Cayce, American psychic, Reincarnationist, (1877-1945)

Dreams--how often do you awaken and wonder what your dream meant?  I had to smile later this morning, when I received the email about psychiatrist, Brian Weiss' latest video on Dreams, as I had a early morning dream that I was wondering about.  At times, my dreams are very vivid, and most often, detailed.  I've also had prophetic dreams, and a few that I would consider past life dreams.  And I enjoy dreaming!

Years ago, a couple of times, I saw the late Betty Bethards, a well-known psychic and healer.  The first time I saw her, she gave me a free mini-reading (that turned out to be "right-on,"), but at that time I bought her 1983 book, The Dream Book: Symbols for Self Understanding.  I often refer to it all these years later.   I believe her book is the best on dream interpretation, problem solving, and inspiration.  I also had the opportunity to meet her and have a free mini reading once, and to then hear her lectures on three occasions. Her energy work and demonstrations were most inspirational.  Her other book that I have, is “Sex and Psychic Energy,” which is also a interesting book.

Betty Bethards stated:  "Dreams are a lot of fun once you understand what's going on.  Just think--free movies every night starrring yourself!"

She's right, you know.

Happy to see that her Dream book is still available in print and Kindle—and I will continue to recommend it.

And Dr. Weiss mentions one of his books, which happens to be one of my favorites, Only Love is Real, the Story of Soulmates Reunited.

Soul Choices by Linda Pendleton

My article, SOUL CHOICES, that I was invited to write for the GaiamTV.com Blog on Spirituality 101: A Course in How to Live More Mindfully

SOUL CHOICES

By Linda Pendleton

1. Acknowledge That You Are a Spiritual Being

Too often we forget that we’re spiritual beings traveling this lifetime in a physical vehicle. When you come to a full understanding that you are a spiritual being, and all the things that go along with that understanding, such as meditation and prayer, a connection to all life, compassion and love, and a true appreciation of being alive, daily problems and challenges will become easier and lighter.

2. Meditation and Prayer

Meditation and prayer are important because they not only put you in touch with the Divine, but in touch with yourself. Meditation and mindfulness becomes a beautiful opportunity for spiritual enrichment. When you receive guidance during meditation or prayer, it comes to your uncluttered and still mind with clearness.
Within your quiet and peaceful moments you open your connection with the world of spirit, allowing yourself to receive messages of love and divine inspiration, in addition to conversing with God or the Divine Source, your angels, spirit guides, and deceased loved ones. Meditation relieves stress and puts you in touch with your higher self. It also allows for intellectual communication at a cellular level. In the slightly altered state of meditation, much like the daydream state, the life force energy flows much freer throughout the body, and with the free energy flow, the chakras come into balance, and into alignment. It is a time of cleansing and healing of the body, mind and spirit.

3. The Power of Choice

We can think of ourselves as a rose bud, which first begins as a small green nub and then begins to form the petals of a rose within. As the petals take shape and form, they evolve and grow, soon bursting open and revealing themselves to the world. And as the rose continues to grow, absorbing the rays of sunlight and soaking up nourishment which filters up from the roots, it continues its evolution, expanding, filling out, and maturing. It then becomes a beautiful, flourishing and thriving rose.
Life is growth, from our first helpless cry at birth to our last breath. Life is also a personal journey and we make our choices along the way, and observe our outer world in the way we choose. We also see our inner world with our eyes alone. It is there in our inner world where we shape who we are and project an image out to the world around us. We are many things and we change moment to moment as our perceptions change: perceptions of ourselves, as well as perceptions of the outer world. We are meant to grow, to learn, and to come to new understandings. That is our soul purpose, but the choices are ours.
Peace, as with love, has to come from within. In order to reconnect with peaceful and content feelings, one has to reach inward and rediscover that place of centeredness. Taking quiet time for ourselves, or quality time spent with our loved ones, walking in the woods, or along the seashore and connecting with nature, or quietly watching a beautiful sunset will do wonders to relieve stress and bring a sense of peace and oneness with all of life.
