Is It Meant to Be? Intuition vs. Will

“Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next.” ~Jonas Salk (1914-1995)

Is it meant to be? Is it not meant to be? Is the time right? Is it destiny?

Disappointments are part of life. What are the emotional lessons, and how can we transcend negativity, and transform emotionally negative emotions into something better? How can we use our innate intuition to guide us on our path?

Psychiatrist and Intuitive Judith Orloff, M.D. gives an interesting prospective into empowering ourselves.

Thanks, Lover of Life. Happy to hear you enjoyed it. She is right on about intention and intuition and I thought this video was excellent. Gave me things to think about. :-)

In journalism, reporters learn that when we're blocked in our search for a story, we go over, under, around and through. I think it's the same with so much in our lives -- when we don't get what we want, we can sit and complain, or we can figure out another direction -- maybe this is the direction we needed to go in, anyway! Thanks for posting. :)

Naomi, That's right. It's all about choices, action and reaction. Thnaks for your comments.

Have you read "The Feeling of What Happens: emotion and the body in the making of consciousness" by Antonio D'Amasio? It's a really interesting book about the neurology of emotions.

He believes that "negative" emotions such as fear, are a part of our survival instinct and serve us well - unless we get addicted to them. "Negative" emotions prepare the body to meet challenges. In that way, fear is a channel that helps us open to personal power. Reject fear and you reject power.

I don't believe that the best possible life is one lived through what we think of as "positive" feelings. If we can accept what we judge as negative, and open to the possibilities those feelings bring, we can live fully.

One of my teachers used to say, for instance, "Anxiety is excitement without breath." She also said, "Where there's fear, there's power."

I strive to live with the entire spectrum of my emotions, rather than cutting off the ones I judge to be "negative." Yes? Oh yeah!

Reya,
No, I've not read Antonio D'Amaso's book but it sounds interesting. Yes, I would guess we have to recognize the feelings of fear, negativity, to then be able to move into and beyond them.
