"What Befalls the Earth..."

Mono Lake, CA

"What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.
This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth.
All things are connected like the blood that unites us all.
Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it.
Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

Self Healing Expressions: Self-Healing ~ Spiritual Healing: Online Courses and Healing Articles
and a Monthly Newsletter

I don’t know if I have written much about my ecourse publisher, Self Healing Expressions, or if any of you have checked out their inspirational website when I have mentioned it--but you should.

There are some great ecourses, and they cover Emotional Healing, Spiritual Healing, Physical Healing. The lessons are sent to you daily or weekly: Reiki Courses, Life Purpose, Shamanism, Feng Shui, Dreams, Holistic Prayers, Soul Mates, Laughter Therapy, Journaling, Nutrition, Angels and Spirit Guides, and more. I have two ecourses there, and three ebooks at their sister site. Healing Ebooks, “to guide and support you on your healing journey,” and free bonus gifts are offered with each purchase of an ebook.

But in addition to those many ecourses, and the growing number of ebooks, all of us on the faculty have written articles that you can enjoy reading for free.

Marty Tousley, an accredited bereavement counselor, has some excellent articles and ecourses on grief, and also on grief in coping with pet loss. Just the other day I referred my neighbor to her works as they had to put to sleep their rescue dog, a blind cocker spaniel, who they rescued when she was eight. She’s been a neighborhood fixture for a few years now, and we’ll all miss her evening walks and wagging tail.

June Cook and her husband, Ken Cook, founded Self Healing Expressions and their mission is: “To educate and empower individuals towards greater health, well-being and harmony with the earth and each other; to provide expert technical and marketing support to those with messages of spiritual healing, holistic health, hope and peace.”

You may want to sign up for the free monthly ezine that June puts out. It’s always interesting and inspirational.

And hey, I’ve very much enjoyed working with them now for several years. I really have to thank Marty Tousley for encouraging me to contact June with ideas for my ecourses. That was in 2003. I can’t leave Mike Monastero out of the team...as he’s the webmaster, and he’s good at it!

I’m sure you will find articles that you will be interested in reading. There’s a bunch to choose from.

Here are reviews of a few of the courses (including one of mine)

First Year of Grief by Marty Tousley
"Thank you very much! Your course supported me through the worst time of my life! I really looked forward to my e-mails. I have saved all of them so I can read over all the wonderful advice and loving comfort it gave me. I would definitely take another class with you and probably will in the near future. I will also recommend your course to others!" ~ Jackie Wimberly, Florida

Healing with Feng Shui and Color by Deborah Redfern
“I want to express my gratitude to Deborah Redfern for the magnificent Healing with Feng Shui and Colour course shared with a friend (yes, Self Healing Expressions offers a two-for-one-course!). I started reading the course with an enthusiasm which grew daily as I was reminded of Feng Shui already learnt but Deborah has a unique way of introducing new aspects of healing. I loved the daily quotes and the different websites offered to explore if interested. You feel the generosity of information flowing through Deborah as her knowledge seems inexhaustible!" ~ Carole Schneider, Master Teacher of Interior Alignment

Dreams for Healing: Using Dreams as a Pathway to the Soul by Laura V. Grace
“This is an amazing class that is helping me connect to myself through dreams. Dreams hold so much helpful information. Little by little Laura is helping me understand how to tap this far-reaching resource. It is an incredibly enriching course!" ~ Gena Lumbroso, France

Journey to the Heart: Exploring the World of Spirit and Our Connection to It by Linda Pendleton
"Awesome, awesome, awesome. I have saved each lesson and will return to them for refreshing incentive frequently. As a cancer survivor, this course came into my life just at the right time. I can't thank Ms. Pendleton enough." ~ C.H., Florida

I do hope you will read the articles there and sign up for the monthly ezine. Every month when it comes I want to share it with others. And you may want to do the same.

Enjoy, Linda

The Blinking Artist: Thomas Nelson

"With little time to mourn my losses, I turned my face to the wind and never looked back. "
~Thomas Nelson, Musician, Artist

One of my Internet friends and close friend of my cousin Vivian, Terry, sent me an email tonight about the art work of his younger brother, Thomas Nelson. You really need to take a look at this and read the story of this artist.

See, what is so inspiring is that Thomas is a quadriplegic and he now draws pictures by blinking his eyes.

Talk about courage...and living life...

From his website:

Eight years ago, at 57 years old, Thomas was living the life of his dreams. But then he received devastating news that would radically alter the course of his life. He writes in his online journal:

"In 2001 I was a year into retirement and having the time of my life as a full-time working musician. Little did I suspect that fate was winding up to deliver a curve ball that caught me right squarely between the eyes.

"This particular missile came in the form of a diagnosis of ALS. I guess I'm fortunate that my version of paralysis began in my feet and worked its way up because it gave me a few extra years before my arms and hands became too weak to play."

ALS, also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease", progressively shut down the functions of Thomas' muscles. He was forced to adapt. "With little time to mourn my losses, I turned my face to the wind and never looked back. The constant through it all has been my computer. Through the computer I stay connected with friends and family, manage my personal affairs, read books, and communicate with the people around me."

As a creative outlet, Thomas devised a way to draw. He uses E Z Keys scanning software, Xara Xtreme graphics editing software, and an IST switch that emulates a mouse click when he moves his cheek. Amazingly, he connects vector points and draws lines by blinking his eyes.

Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet

Photo of my Great Aunt Isa, abt. 1915-20

The pollsters' findings on people who have had contact with those on the Other Side, angels, guides, or loved ones, reflect my own independent research of the matter and my experiences with ordinary people of all walks of life. It appears many people are now very open about discussing such matters in public with little sense of embarrassment and many even seem delighted with the opportunity to do so.

So we have made gains and it may be because so much of various mystical events are now reflected in our entertainment: the books, movies, television, and that it now seems much more comfortable for discussion. People have come out of their “spiritual closet” and are ready to let the world know who they are and what they have experienced. They then discover that they are just like many others. They also discover they are far from crazy. What they have or will experience is actually a normal part of life, and is within the norm of human existence.

The more common experience related to me by others has more to do with direct contact from friends or loved ones who have passed on rather than a full blown encounter with an angelic figure. Many other experiences at first seem to involve an ordinary helping hand from a stranger at a time when it is needed most. It is only later that the recipient of the good deed begins to realize that something supernatural must have occurred.

While intuition presents itself in different ways for individual people, it is often thought to be: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and other types of extra-sensory perception. Yes, it is possible for Spirit to communicate in more then just one way with us! And even within a particular communication, it may be a blend of the various intuitive classifications.

Have you had commuication from a deceased loved one?--or angels?

You can leave your comments here or visit my Angel Board and share your experience.

Wisdom of Walt Whitman

“Every moment of light and dark is a miracle.”
Walt Whitman

“Re-examine all that you have been told... dismiss that which insults your soul.”
Walt Whitman

“Seeing, hearing, feeling, are miracles, and each part and tag of me is a miracle.”
Walt Whitman

“To me, every hour of the day and night is an unspeakably perfect miracle.”
Walt Whitman

“I exist as I am, that is enough.”
Walt Whitman

"I celebrate myself, and sing myself.
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.”
Walt Whitman

“Births have brought us richness and variety,
And other births will bring us richness and variety.”

Trusting Intuition

Medical doctor and intuitive, Dr. Judith Orloff and psychic intuitive Char Margolis discuss intuition with Dr. Oz.

Dr. Orloff is author of Second Sight and her latest book is Emotional Freedom. Char is an excellent psychic and her books are Questions from Earth, Answers From Heaven and Living in Spirit. She also has a long running primetime television show in The Netherlands. (I wish it was here in the USA, too).

We have to learn to trust our intuition. Char said to “OWN” your intuition and to do so with these 4 Cs:

Courage, Confidence, Commitment, to Conquer it—act upon it.

I would like to see more discussion of this by Char and Dr. Orloff.

Eileen J. Garrett, Famous Mediums, Part 3

The Irish Medium, Eileen J. Garrett (1893-1970)

Another widely respected medium, Eileen J. Garrett, a native of Ireland, was invited to the United States by the American Society for Psychical Research in 1931 to participate in paranormal research and later went to Duke University's Rhine Institute for testing in their Parapsychology Laboratory under unusually strict conditions. She scored very high on the ESP tests and while being studied for her mediumistic abilities, "she gave communications in the trance state that contained information peculiar beyond chance coincidence to a series of individuals. These, one at a time, were seated in an adjoining closed-off room, so that she never saw any of them or knew their identity." [1]

Garrett was to later establish her own Parapsychology Foundation in New York which published the International Journal of Parapsychology.

American Psychic Medium, Arthur Ford, in writing of Eileen Garrett in his 1958 autobiography, Nothing So Strange, described her as, "...one of the great mediums of all time and one of the most important people in the field of psychic research.”

Belief in an Afterlife

“Death is simply a disguised deliverance, or, like the budding rose,
it climbs up on the garden wall to bloom on the other side.”
–James Martin Peebles (1822-1922)

“The wise man looks not to how long he lives,
but to how he dies. For him death has no terrors,
because it is the day of his birth to immortal life.
And he will be mindful of those he has left behind,
and will commune with them.”
–Seneca (4? B.C.–65 A.D.)
A recent poll indicates that 82% of Americans believe in an afterlife. The numbers are also increasing for those who believe that they have had communication from a loved one on the other side.

It would seem that the religious instinct is innate within humankind, as though a template for the religious experience had been programmed into our genetic structures that govern human expression. Within the innate religious or spiritual instinct are experiences that might be classified as miraculous. But, are many of the events or experiences actually miracles or no more than ordinary occurrences?

Reports of extraordinary and astonishing events attributed to supreme being or divine power will be found in virtually every world religion, every culture, and probably within every human mind from primitive times right up into the modern age. Many cultures do not regard miracles or paranormal events as anything extraordinary but merely the natural workings of a natural world. Most cultures who share that idea have well-formulated spiritual beliefs that have been carried forward from generation to generation, throughout history, and many of these cultures have evolved highly sophisticated belief systems.

When one reads the history of cultures, it is very apparent that there has always been a “knowing” within mankind that evolves into understandings that we are, indeed, spiritual beings and that life does not end with the death of the physical body. Mankind has always looked to the heavens in a search for answers. I have often wondered why that is and the answer I have come up with is that no matter our religious upbringing or belief system, we do, within us, have the knowledge that we are much more than a physical body having a life experience. We are temporarily using a physical body for an ongoing spiritual life.

When I look back at my life, I recall at a very young age knowing that there was more to life than just a few years we may have here on Earth. I have also been lucky to have experienced events that have convinced me beyond any doubt that life and love go on after the death of the body. I am hardly alone in that spiritual understanding. That idea and understanding has been presented in writings since the beginning of recorded history. We are also experiencing the coming together of science and spirituality and many in the medical profession are leading the way. Scientific studies are being conducted in various areas of life and death and maybe one day in the not to distant future there will be scientific evidence that consciousness lives on beyond the death of the physical body.

It is my hope that we are now into an age of new spiritual understanding where we can welcome and accept the gift of knowing that we are often given, no matter how subtle that gift may be. We are immortal, eternal spirits.

Those gifts not only make life more joyous, grief easier, but help to remove the fear of death that has been placed culturally as an obstacle to spiritual growth and understanding. We do know who we are. We just have to bring that knowing, our remembrance, to the forefront. And increasing numbers of people are achieving that while in the body. And for those who do not rediscover the knowing, they will know without doubt one day as they pass into another state of being.
