Touched by Psychic Edgar Cayce

"Humanity is pleading, yearning for knowledge.  Inquirers are still asking, 'If a man dies shall he live again?  And if he live, why may we not know it?'" ~Dr. James Martin Peebles

Many years ago, I read the Edgar Cayce book, There is a River, the Story of Edgar Cayce by Thomas Sugrue, which, for me was probably life changing, offering new perspectives on life and death.

I’m not sure what year I first read the book, maybe late 1950’s. It is very possible my father had it in his paperback collection when I was in junior high or high school. If I did not read it then, it would have been not long after.

Dr. Christiane Northrup, M.D., best-selling author, and in the past a frequent guest on Oprah, had this to say about Cayce: "The story of Edgar Cayce has inspired me from the time I was 12 years old. As one of the first well-studied medical intuitives, his work and his life helped blaze the path for the future of medicine."

Cayce also helped blaze the path for spiritual understanding and awareness. I have discovered that There is a River, has been life-changing for many people.   I’ve heard time and again from friends, acquaintances, and from fan mail, how they felt so inspired by the book, and that it put them on a spiritual journey to new discoveries about life.

As my husband, Don Pendleton and I, wrote in our book, Whispers From the Soul, the Divine Dance of Consciousness, in regards to Edgar Cayce: “Whatever the source of Edgar Cayce's spectacular gifts, they have provided new windows through which ordinary people may perceive reality and often transform their lives. We all are richer because of Edgar Cayce.”

Using Your Intuition for Well-being

Within our bodies we have a vast communication network.  It has been long understood that the brain communicates with the body but recent medical research is now showing that messenger molecules, the route through which intelligence moves through the body, are intimately linked to every cell and that a never-ending stream of information in both directions is moving between the mind and body.

Our emotions must be regarded as both physical and mental when we understand that there is intelligence, or mind, in every cell of the body.

Every thought, emotion, image, memory, and deed, effects the totality of our being, moment by moment.  Within us lies the intelligence of not only mind but body and soul, and we have the power to consciously influence facets of that trinity.

Your natural intuition can help you to know how your body is and what it would like you to know. Do you listen to what your body is telling you?  Do you ask it what you should know?  Are you aware of the energy flow within your body?

The most meaningful and powerful medicine you can receive is to allow your inner intelligence to speak to you, and to listen.

Have there been times when your body “told” you something and you choose to ignore its message?

Do you take advantage of exercise, meditation, positive thought, good sleep, and good nutrition to help with stress, worry, frustration, and work?

Do you allow your body, mind, and spirit the needed time for rest, nourishment, and restoration.

Do you strive for a joyful attitude?

Quiz:  As you look over these comments decide how they apply in your life and rate them:  Always, Often, Never.

1.  I overwork.
2.  I get a good night’s sleep.
3.  I have a chronic physical condition that I monitor carefully.
4.  I am often accident prone.
5.  I often have headaches.
6.  I often have muscle tension.
7.  I exercise regularly.
8.  When I have a cold or the flu I rest.
9.  I awaken looking forward to a new day.
10.  I eat meals on a regular schedule.
11.  I listen to my intuition.
12.  I put trust in my inner-knowing.
13.  I am aware of energy within my body.
14.  I am in tune with my body.
15.  I am open to receiving messages.
16.  I love the synchronicity of life.
17.  I give out positive thought and energy.
18.  I feel joy in being alive.
19.  I create my reality with my perceptions.
20.  I know who I am and what my gift is to give.

Orbs in my Grandfather's One-Room Schoolhouse

This is the interior of an old barn that was once a one room schoolhouse in Gilbert, Iowa.  The school had originally been on my great-grandparents farm land in Gilbert, Iowa.  My grandfather, Arthur, and his older brother, Roy, attended school there in about 1894-1899.  The schoolhouse was moved across the highway at some point in those early years and became a barn when school was moved into town.  The photos were taken for me in recent years by a couple who lived nearby in Gilbert and offered to send me photos.  As you see, orbs fill the photo.  Could it be that my ancestors are visiting the one room schoolhouse?--And maybe they purposely (personally) made their presence visible for me?

The Energy of Intuition

“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain,
but simply points the way.”
~Florence Scovel Shinn (1871-1940), Author

It is my hope that we are now coming into an age of new spiritual understanding where we can welcome and accept the gift of Aknowing@ that we are often given, no matter how subtle that gift may be.  We are immortal, eternal spirits.
Those gifts not only make life more joyous, grief easier, but help to remove the fear of death that has been placed culturally as an obstacle to spiritual growth and understanding.  We do know who we are.  We just have to bring that knowing, our remembrance, to the forefront.  An increasing number of people are achieving that while in the body.  And for those who do not rediscover the knowing, they will know without doubt one day, as they pass into another state of being.
It is wise to use our intuition to access our body’s subtle energies for greater wellness. This sacred energy is with us at birth, throughout life, and continues after death—it’s a marker of our soul’s journey. We must learn to draw upon it.
We all may use our intuition for guidance, and for the wealth of knowledge that can be revealed to us from the spirit world.  We must learn to listen with our gut instead of our heads.  We must learn to listen with our hearts instead of our minds, and we must believe in our intuitive sense.
So the next time your intuition speaks to you, listen, trust in it, and be guided by it.  The sense of comfort it brings is very well worth it.

Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, One of a Kind.

It has been many years now since psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross stuck her neck out among her peers with her ideas on death and dying, and she dedicated her life to teaching about grief and how to handle terminal illness.  What she brought to the world of medicine was a spiritual understanding, and enforced that not only with her patients, but in her classes, lectures, seminars, and books.  I was lucky enough to know Elisabeth personally and she was one hell of a woman.  She worked hard.  She had a beautiful sense of humor, was an intelligent, intuitive, compassionate, and spiritual person.  And yes, she talked with spirits, (spooks, as she called them).  I have much respect and admiration for her and how she stood up for what she believed in, and at a time when her beliefs were not the norm, at least in our hospitals in this country.  She was one of a kind, a very beautiful soul.
The first time I saw her on television was in 1969 or so, when her now-classic book On Death and Dying came out.  I was awed by her then and fascinated by the ideas she presented in her book.  Her work, her books, and her lectures, have touched millions and millions of people over the years.  What she gave us is precious, and for many of us, a new understanding about the process of death, about the afterlife, and about grieving our losses, before and after a life ends in the physical dimension.
For anyone who would like to know more abut Elisabeth's life, I would suggest her fascinating autobiography, The Wheel of Life: A Memoir of Living and Dying, and, of course, any or all of her other books, including her last one, co-written with David Kessler, On Grief and Grieving:  Finding the Meaning of Grief Through the Five Stages of Loss.
But even now, a few years after her death, when I think about her, and write about her, it brings a smile to me, almost a chuckle, as I recall some humorous comments she made on an afternoon visit I made to her home in Arizona, at a time following her stroke.
Having spent private time with Elisabeth and having personal conversations has been a highlight of my life.  Yes, indeed.

Dr. James Martin Peebles,. Leading Spiritualist of the 19th Century

March 23, 1822 to March 23, 2016, 194 years.

Dr. James Martin Peebles was born in Vermont on this day in 1822. And we are lucky to have his wit and wisdom still with us from his home on the Other Side. Shortly after his death on February 15, 1922, on March 23rd a posthumous centennial birthday banquet was held in his honor in Los Angeles (where he had made his home for several years) by the California Centenarian Club that he had founded. Hundreds attended the celebration and Dr. Peebles communicated with the gathering through a medium. His obituary made newspapers all across the country, including the New York Times and the Los Angels Times. Read the Los Angeles Times obit here on my website, To Dance With Angels. Also other articles about this life, and our books.
